About Creepy Kawaii Books

Some people are idea people. They see a skeleton in a top hat running a haunted candy store and think — someone should make a coloring book of that. They wonder what the inside of a witch’s kitchen smells like (cinnamon and sulfur, probably), what a skeleton dad wears on vacation (a Hawaiian shirt, obviously — but the top hat stays on), and whether a baby who inherited both impossible strength and uncontrolled magic would have any idea what he was doing.
I’m one of those people. Creepy Kawaii Books is what happens when an idea person finally has the tools to bring those ideas to life.

Where It Started

Creepy Kawaii Books is an imprint of Wee Chee Books — a small independent publishing venture named after our family’s first dog, a little Chug who became the symbol of something important: the moment when separate lives become one family. WeeChee was our first shared act as a blended household, and that sense of warmth, humor, and belonging is baked into everything we make.
The Creepy Kawaii brand grew out of a simple question: what if a coloring book had real personality? Not just cute animals in generic cozy settings, but specific characters in a specific world — with names, relationships, running jokes, and a story that rewards you for paying attention. What if every book in a series was a piece of a larger universe, and collecting them meant discovering more of that world each time?
That’s what we set out to build.

Where It Started

Creepy Kawaii Books publishes coloring books across three series, each one exploring a different side of the same spooky cute universe.
The Cursed Series puts our mascot Skelly to work — running haunted candy stores, supernatural pet shops, and monster gyms. Active, chaotic, and full of visual humor, these books are the playful heart of the brand.
Hygge Haunts takes you inside Skelly’s home. Room by room, you explore the haunted mansion where he lives with his witch wife Sage, their four kids, and a rotating cast of supernatural pets. The kitchen is Sage’s domain. The library is where Skelly disappears. And the baby — Bean — is doing his best with powers he absolutely cannot control.
Bone Voyage takes the whole family on vacation. Road trips, campouts, cruise ships. Same characters, brand new chaos, and Skelly in a Hawaiian shirt with his top hat still perfectly in place.
Every book is 50 pages of bold, easy-to-color scenes in our Pop Gothic kawaii style — thick outlines, oversized chibi proportions, and just enough spooky detail to keep every page interesting.

How We Make Our Books

Every book starts with a concept. Not a prompt — a world. Before a single page is created, we build the characters, write their personalities, plan the scene list, and decide what each page should feel like to color. The creative vision drives everything.
We use AI image generation tools as part of our production process, and we’re transparent about that. It’s on the page in every book we publish, and we’re happy to talk about it openly. We believe a tool is only as meaningful as the vision behind it — and the vision behind every Creepy Kawaii book is deeply human. The characters, the humor, the relationships, the world — that’s all made by hand, one idea at a time.
We also believe that what matters most in a coloring book is the experience of coloring it. The quality of the lines. The charm of the characters. The joy of spending an evening doing something slow and creative and just for you. That’s what we optimize for, every book.
If you want to go deeper on how our books are made, we’ve written about the full creative process on the blog.

Meet the Team

The creative force behind Creepy Kawaii Books is one person with too many ideas and a deep conviction that coloring books should have personality. Wee Chee Books also publishes the Raymond Lemont line of faith-based children’s picture books — a separate imprint honoring two grandfathers whose names, and whose influence, deserve to live on in print.
Creepy Kawaii Books is the loud, spooky, kawaii side of the house. Raymond Lemont is the quiet, warm, faithful side. Both are made with the same care.

Thank You for Being Here

Whether you found us through a search for spooky coloring books, a recommendation from a friend, or a rabbit hole of kawaii art at midnight — welcome. We’re glad you’re here.
Every book we publish is an invitation to slow down, pick up your markers, and spend some time in a world that’s warm and weird and just a little bit haunted. Skelly’s always at the door, waving you in.
